Hudgins, Nichtern Named USILA All-Americans

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Juniors Marcus Hudgins and Brendan Nichtern continue to be honored with postseason awards as they were both named All-Americans by the United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA).

Players selected for All-American were nominated by their coach and then received votes from the All-American Committee.
Hudgins was voted a Second Team All-Americans, while Nichtern was selected a Third Team All-American.Â

The pair were also named All-Americans by Inside Lacrosse and USA Lacrosse Magazine in 2021.

Nichtern, the 2021 Patriot League Offensive Player of the Year, finished with a team-high 57 points on 23 goals and 28 assists in 11 games started. He currently sits sixth in the nation in points per game after recording 5.18 points per contest for the Black Knights. He is also eighth in assists per game at 2.82 this season. He tallied five or more points in nine of the 11 games and tied a career high with eight points on three goals and five assists against Colgate in the regular-season finale.

Hudgins led an Army defense that currently ranks fifth in the nation in scoring defense and individually, he was named the Patriot League's Defensive Player of the Year. He wrapped up the season picking up a career high 36 ground balls and nabbing 23 caused turnovers in 11 starts, which was also a career high. He averaged 2.09 caused turnovers per game this season to currently rank tied for 10th nationally, all while guarding the opponent's top offensive threat each week.
