Volleyball Primed for Patriot League Tournament

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point volleyball team will compete in the Patriot League Championship this weekend at Cotterell Court in Hamilton, N.Y. Third-seeded Army will take on second-seeded Holy Cross in the semifinal round Friday at 6 p.m. The winner will take on victor of the Colgate-American semifinal matchup on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the title match. Each competition will be broadcast on ESPN+.

Army (4-2) enters the tournament riding a three-game win streak. Friday's contest will be the fifth meeting between the Crusaders and Black Knights this season. Holy Cross took the first match 3-1 on their home court, but the Black Knights won the last three.Â

Friday's matchup will be the fifth all-time meeting in the Patriot League Tournament between Army and Holy Cross. The two schools clashed in the opening round of the tournament four consecutive years from 1991-94, with the Black Knights earning 3-0 wins in each contest. Â

Army has earned a berth into the Patriot League Tournament 13 times under 14-year head coach Alma Kovaci Lee. Army has made it to the title game four times under Kovaci Lee and hoisted the trophy once in 2009.Â

The Black Knights had four cadet-athletes recognized with all-Patriot League awards on Wednesday. Senior Hannah Presley was tabbed a first team all-league performer. Senior Monica Eckford, freshman Paige Fixemer and senior Ana Oglivie were named to the league's second team.
