Black Knights Narrowly Fall to Navy

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's lacrosse team fell, 13-12, in nail-biter to No. 16 Navy in Saturday's Star Game, which is part of the Star Series presented by USAA.

Caroline Raymond led Army with five points (4 goals, 1 assists), while Jackie Brattan contributed three goals. Ellie Lecker (4 goals, 1 assist) and Nicole Victory (3 goals, 2 assists) paced the Mids offense with five points apiece.

The Black Knights jumped to an early 3-1 lead just over six minutes into the contest with Madeline Lenkart, Caroline Raymond and Jackie Brattan each netting goals for the Cadets.

The Mids came storming back, scoring the contest's next six goals to push ahead 7-3 by the 9:53 mark of the first half.

The Black Knights fought back to even things up at seven apiece with four goals in less than a five-minute span. Raymond netted a pair of goals, while Brattan and Megan Raftery contributed the others.

Victory found the back of the net with five seconds remaining in the opening stanza to give the Mids the 8-7 lead at the half.

Brattan opened the scoring in the second half with her third goal of the afternoon thanks to a feed from Raymond. The Cadets then regained the lead at the 25:23 mark on a player up goal from Lenkart.

The Cadets eventually went on to take the 12-10 lead at the 16:28 mark of the second half with Raymond netting her fourth goal of the contest.

However, the Mids were able to score the final three goals of the game to earn the 13-12 win.
