Muffett, Grete Earn Weekly Patriot League Awards

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team swept the Patriot League weekly awards. Megan Muffett was tabbed the league's player of the week, while Alicyn Grete was named the pitcher of the week.

Muffett was 2-for-4 from the plate and had four RBIs in Army's 16-4 win over Howard on Saturday in the Washington, D.C. The La Center, Wash., product had a three-run blast in the third inning and was tied for the team-lead with three runs.

Grete was dominant on the mound with nine strikeouts in 4.0 innings pitched. After allowing a lead-off single, she retired the next 12 batters she faced, including a stretch of six consecutive strikeouts.
