Men's Basketball Falls at Holy Cross

WORCESTER, Mass. – The Army West Point men's basketball team fell to Holy Cross at the Hart Center on Sunday afternoon, 67-51.
The Black Knights (10-7, 6-6 Patriot League) held a 4-3 lead in the early goings of the first half, but otherwise it was all Crusaders (4-11, 4-11 Patriot League) on their Senior Day.
The Black Knights just could not get things going offensively, shooting just 38.8 percent (19-for-49) from the field and 16 percent (3-for-18) from three-point land. Likewise, Holy Cross shot 48.3 percent from the field (28-for-58) and 35.7 (10-for-28) percent from behind the arc.
The Black Knights were plagued by turnovers on the day, turning the ball over 22 times to 14 times by Holy Cross, allowing 24 points off turnovers and 10 points on the fast break.
The Black Knights, playing from behind since the 18th minute in the first half, cut into the Crusaders' lead in the second half and got it down to seven points on a Grayson layup with 15:55 left in the game. However, the Crusaders went on a 26-11 run over the next 11 minutes to take a 22-point lead. The Black Knights never backed down, however, and finished the final five minutes of the game on a 10-4 run, cutting into the lead and leading to the final score of 61-57.
Lonnie Grayson led the team with 13 points, the only Black Knight in double figures on the day. He also tied for the team lead with seven rebounds.

The Black Knights will be back in action this weekend for the final weekend of the regular season, hosting Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 27 and Sunday, Feb. 28 at Christl Arena. Senior Day for the Black Knights' five seniors will be held on Sunday.

- Caldwell, Rucker and King all turned the ball over an uncharacteristic four times on the day.
- Matt Dove came off the bench and scored four points.
- Holy Cross only shot two free throws total on the day (1-for-2).
- The Black Knights only committed nine fouls.
- Austin Butler scored a team-high 23 points for Holy Cross. Matt Faw was the other Crusader in double figures with 14.
- Grayson and Peterson tied for the team-high with seven boards apiece. The Black Knights out-rebounded the Crusaders, 32-30.
