Men's Basketball Falls to Boston U, 75-63

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point men's basketball team made a comeback late, but it was too little as they fell 75-63 to visiting Boston University on Saturday afternoon at Christl Arena.

The Black Knights (10-8 overall, 6-7 Patriot League) led early in the first half, but their biggest lead of the day was just three points and a 13-point scoring run for the Terriers (6-9, 6-9 Patriot League) gave them a 17-point lead, 41-24 at the half that the Black Knights just could not overcome.

The Black Knights shot just 37.5 percent (9-for-24) from the field in the first half, while the Terriers were red hot, shooting 51.7 percent (15-for-29), including 8-for-15 from three-point land.

 At the half Alex King led the team with seven points and four rebounds. He finished the day with a team-high 17 points and five rebounds.

In the second half the Black Knights tightened things up defensively, only allowing BU to shoot 38.1 percent (8-for-21) from the field, but they knocked down seven three-pointers to go with their eight in the first half.

Likewise, the Black Knights came back offensively in the second half, led by King player who had 10 points, as they shot 50.0 percent (16-for-32) from the field.

The Black Knights battled back to pull within eight with 3:45 left in the game on a Grayson three, but couldn't make a run and the Terriers made their free throws down the stretch. The Black Knights only had one made field goal in the final 3:45.

Joining Alex King in double figures on the day was Josh Caldwell who finished with 15 points and five rebounds, while Jalen Rucker had 10.

The Terriers had three in double-figures, led by Jonas Harper who had 18 points and was an impressive 6-for-9 from the floor.

-Alex King led the Black Knights with 17 points from the floor and was tied for the team-high with five rebounds.
-Josh Caldwell was next with 15 points and also had five rebounds with three assists.
-Jalen Rucker had 10 points and was 2-for-3 from three-point shooting.
-Lonnie Grayson led the Black Knights with three three-pointers on the day and finished with 9 points.
-The Black Knights almost doubled BU's points in the paint, finishing with 26 to the Terriers' 14.
-The BU bench outscored the Black Knights, 26-8 on the day.
-Army outscored BU in the second half, 39-34, but it was too little too late after being down 17 in the first half, 41-24.
