December 02, 2021 | Football, General, Volleyball
WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point Athletics Association's Academic Support Team released its Corps Squad Athletes for the month of November, honoring football player Connor Bishop and volleyball's Isabella Sullivan.
The duo joins five other scholar-athletes that have been selected during the 2021-22 academic year, including recipients from the month of September (Jacob Suppiah - MSOC and David Dickerson - SFB) and October (Nicole Wantlin - WRUGBY, Georgia Jones - WXC and Marshall Beatty - MXC).
Connor Bishop - Junior - Football - Holland, Pa.
Cadet Bishop, a member of Company I2, is known for his exemplary leadership skills both on and off the field. In the classroom, he excels with a 4.037 cumulative GPA as a business management major and has made the Dean's List every semester he has been at the Academy.
Bishop is a starting offensive lineman on the Army Football team and is a vocal leader. He holds a position on the program's leadership council, which is comprised of a group of players voted on by their peers. A team player who brings out the best in those around him, Bishop's leadership and work ethic are apparent and positively impact all of his teammates. He epitomizes leading by example and is a great Cadet, football player and student.
CPT Shawn Robertson, I2 Tactical Officer: "Cadet Connor Bishop is the epitome of Scholar-Athlete-Leader! On and off of the football field, in and out of the classroom, he strives to be the best version of himself, and he doesn't stop there. Connor is notorious for shouldering more than his share of the burden. He does this by conducting routine and hasty study sessions with his peers and subordinates – always volunteering his scarce free time to develop others. Connor is truly a force multiplier, and here in the Moose, we find ourselves lucky to have him."
Isabella Sullivan - Sophomore - Volleyball - San Antonio, Texas
Cadet Sullivan is an international history major with honors and, in addition to maintaining a 3.76 cumulative GPA, holds the highest CQPA on the team's roster. A consistently high-performing student in the classroom, she has made the Dean's List every semester that she has been at West Point. She stands out within the History Department and has been recognized by the faculty within it as an exceptional Cadet. Sullivan has served as a research intern with the New War Research Consortium, where she has focused her work on extremism in the military, and has additionally done research with the USAWC, assisting with counterinsurgency and creating a case study on Mozambique. Sullivan was the team's academic team captain this past semester and organized study hall and tutor sessions to help her teammates in the core curriculum classes.
As a setter on the volleyball team, Sullivan is a major contributor to the team's offensive efforts. She additionally demonstrated her defensive prowess in November, racking up 18 digs to go along with her 24 assists and three aces during a home game against Loyola Maryland. Her leadership extends far beyond the volleyball court, as she created and proposed a cultural competency training program during her plebe year that was ultimately adopted into Cadet Basic Training for the Class of 2025. She currently has a cumulative physical program score of 3.416 and a cumulative military porogram score of 3.455.
Alma Kovaci-Lee, Head Volleyball Coach: "Isabella is a great teammate, selfless and has great work ethic. She is willing to play any role needed to help the team."
