WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army Black Knights are represented by nine different cadet-athletes on the 2021 Phil Steele All-Independent Team, as announced by the organization on Tuesday evening.
In addition to being named a Third Team All-American by the Associated Press, outside linebacker Andre Carter II highlighted the announcement by becoming the first Black Knight in recent Academy history to be named a Phil Steele All-American, landing a spot on the Second Team.
Carter was also one of five Cadets tabbed to the All-Independent First Team, joined by defensive back Marquel Broughton, nose tackle Nolan Cockrill, outside linebacker Arik Smith and running back Tyrell Robinson, who received the nod as a punt returner.
The Black Knights' additional selections included quarterback Christian Anderson, offensive lineman Noah Knapp, offensive lineman Jordyn Law and cornerback Jabari Moore, who each nabbed a Second Team spot.
This marks the fifth time in six years that the Black Knights have placed nine-or-more players on the All-Independent squads. The All-Independent Team announcement comes just ahead of Army's fifth Bowl appearance in six years, as the team is set to play in the Armed Forces Bowl on Wednesday, December 22 in Fort Worth, Texas.
Kickoff at TCU's Amon G. Carter Stadium is set for 8 p.m. EST on ESPN.
