HOW IT HAPPENED
Army got the ball rolling early after JC Watson broke free for a 27-yard touchdown trot on Army's first possession. The Black Knights struck again just four minutes courtesy of Landry Songer, who punched in a 1-yard touchdown run.
Army would add one more touchdown in the first quarter when Brendan Tierney returned a punt 44 yards to the house. The touchdown was the first of his collegiate career and gave Army a 20-0 advantage at the end of the first quarter.
Mikal Willeke took over under center for the Black Knights to start the second quarter, and almost immediately connected with Donovan Mannion for a 58-yard touchdown. Willeke would connect with Gerald Moore and Kobe Semien on Army's next two possessions to score 33 and 14-yard touchdowns, respectively. Henry Beck rounded out the scoring in the first half with a two-yard touchdown rush to give the Cadets 47-0 lead at the break.
