Hockey Drops Contest With Bentley, 3-1
November 26, 2021 | Hockey
WALTHAM, Mass. – Army brought the fight with them to Massachusetts, but the pucks weren't falling towards the Cadets on Friday afternoon as Bentley snapped the team's five-game unbeaten streak in a 3-1 defeat of the Black Knights.
Â
HOW IT HAPPENED
Army's forwards pressured the Falcons defensive unit with a flurry of shots early on in the first period, but the Falcons were able to hold off the Black Knights attack in the first period. Army led in shots on net with 10 to Bentley's six after the first twenty minutes.
Â
Bentley scored a pair of goals in the first period and carried a 2-0 lead into the first break in the action. The Falcons added another tally early on in the second period to take a 3-0 advantage at 3:57.
Â
Ricky Lyle got the Black Knights on the board late in the second period with his fourth goal of the season. Lyle made a great play on the puck to force a turnover and slip a wrap-around shot underneath the left pad of the Bentley goaltender.
Â
The defense turned it around in the second period, pushing the tempo and helping out the Army netminder, Gavin Abric, by diving in front of pucks and blocking shots through the remainder of regulation.
Â
The Cadets came up short on the chances they had in the third period as Bentley would go on to win by a score of 3-1.
