Ethridge Highlights Patriot League Postseason Awards

BETHLEHEM, PA --- Two Black Knights earned Patriot League honors while freshmen setter Diana Etheridge of Army West Point volleyball was named the 2021 Patriot League Rookie of the Year after her tremendous efforts on the court during the regular season, as announced by the league on Monday afternoon.
Paige Fixemer garnered a spot on first team while Emmy Barnhorst claimed a spot on the second team for the third time in her career.

Ethridge was tabbed Rookie of the Year after posting 898 assists on 96 sets played ranking third in the league for assists per set (9.35). The Chandler, Ariz. native recorded 10 double-doubles this season. She notched a season-best 61 assists in Army's five-set win over American (Oct. 9) and dug 23 balls in the team's win over Sacred Heart (Sept. 3). Ethridge has earned Patriot League Rookie of the Week three times for her weekend performances in 2021.
Ethridge is the first Cadet since 2014 to earn Rookie of the Year honors with the last being Carolyn Bockrath.

Fixemer collect All-Patriot League honors for the second consecutive year, earning a second team nod in her plebe year. The sophomore claimed first team honors after leading the Black Knights with 267 kills, ranking eighth in the league for kills per set (2.84). The Omaha, Neb. native recorded double-digit kills in 13 matches with a season best of 19 kills at a .433 hitting clip in the five-set win over Colgate (Oct. 29). The sophomore was tabbed Patriot League Player of the Week once this season.

Barnhorst earned a spot on the second team after a strong senior season. The middle recorded 113 kills in 53 sets and ranked second in the league for hitting percentage with a .310 hitting clip. She recorded a season high of 19 kills on a .400 hitting clip in the five-set win over American (Oct. 9). This season she finished three matches with double-digit kills and averaged 2.13 a set.
