Home Again
- Army will prepare to close out the home portion of its slate with back-to-back games against Bucknell (Nov. 13) and UMass (Nov. 20).
- The contest against UMass will serve as the team's senior day for the Class of 2022.
- The Black Knights' historic, 13-game home winning streak recently came to an end with a 70-56 loss to No. 15/16 Wake Forest on Oct. 23.
- Though the result snapped the streak, which was the fifth-longest in the nation at the time, it did see the teams break the all-time scoring record at Michie Stadium.
- Originally set at 111 points from a victory over Louisville in 1999, Army and Wake Forest's combined total of 126 shattered the mark.
Going Bowling
- This weekend, the Cadets will look to reach the six-win threshold that dictates Bowl Game eligibility for the fifth time in the Monken era.
- A victory today would help the team achieve Bowl eligibility in back-to-back seasons for the first time since the 2017-18 campaigns.
- Both of those slates ended in a postseason victory for the Cadets. The 2017 squad defeated San Diego State by a score of 42-35 in the Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl, while the 2018 Army football team earned a dominant, 70-14 victory over Houston in the same Bowl.
- Last year, the Black Knights narrowly missed what would have been their third-straight Bowl win, as the team dropped a 24-21 result to Big 12 foe West Virginia. Army led until the final minutes of the fourth quarter, when a Mountaineer touchdown put the win just out of reach.
Series History
- This weekend marks the seventh meeting in the history between the two teams, which dates back to 1900.
- Army has won all six games it has ever played against Bucknell, with each contest having taken place at Michie Stadium.
- In the programs' 121-year history, the Black Knights have earned a 188-42 advantage in scoring and have limited the Bison to one-touchdown-or-less on three separate occasions.
- The last game between the teams was in 2015, Monken's second year at the helm. A late scoring drive in the fourth quarter propelled the Cadets to a 21-14 victory over the Bison, helping the team to secure its second win of the year.
- Since 2018, Army is 6-0 against FCS opponents and will look to extend the streak during today's game against Bucknell. Most recently, the Cadets defeated both Abilene Christian (55-23) and The Citadel (14-9) in their 2020 campaign.
Scouting the Bison
- On Saturday, Bucknell will have the hope of snapping its five-game losing streak and earning its second win of the year, as the team currently sits at 1-8 with an 0-5 mark against Patriot League opponents.
- After opening up the year with three-straight losses, the Bison defeated Cornell in their homecoming game by a score of 21-10 to pick up their first victory over a non-conference team since 2018.
- In its most recent outing, Bucknell dropped a 38-6 result to its rival Lehigh in a game that was decided by both costly turnovers and the Mountain Hawk's ability to limit the Bison to just 170 yards of total offense. Safety Brent Jackson, who leads the defense with 60.0 total tackles, made a team-high nine in the loss.
- Jackson is one of three Bison with 50-plus tackles, joined by linebacker Ben Allen (59.0) and fellow safety Jonathan Searcy (58.0). The team has made 655.0 total stops this year, over 100 more than its opponents (534.0).
- Both Allen and defensive lineman Aneesh Vyas are currently tied for sixth in the nation (FCS) with two fumble recoveries.
- The Bison have proven their ability to capitalize on red zone opportunities and are 7-12 in touchdowns when within the 20. The team's red zone offense is currently 34th in the nation and fourth among Patriot League opponents.
