Patriot League Honors Alaimo as Diver of the Week

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Following an outing at Seton Hall that saw him sweep both diving events, Army West Point swimming & diving's Daniel Alaimo has been tabbed Patriot League Diver of the Week.
Alaimo was the only Black Knight to receive a weekly selection from the conference, as put out by its office on Tuesday afternoon. This is his second time receiving the nod, as he did so earlier this year after helping the team defeat ACC foe Boston College.
During the recent meet against the Pirates, Alaimo helped lead the Cadets to a sweep of the 1m event and additionally captured the 3m title. On the lower board, he posted a score of 338.85 to pick up nine points for the team and was joined on the podium by second-place David Manelis and third-place Isaac Newman. Alaimo collected a score of 354.75 on the 3m board and was joined among the top finishers by Manelis, who placed third.
Through the team's first four meets of the season, Alaimo has yet to finish lower than second place in a diving event. He has six first-place finishes under his belt and will look to continue the hot streak as the team gets into the middle portion of its 2021-22 slate.
Alaimo and the rest of the Cadets are currently preparing to make the trip to the University of Virginia, as the team is set to take on the Cavaliers on Saturday, Oct. 30. The meet is set for a 10 a.m. start, with diving scheduled to take place the evening before. Army will face off against a Virginia team whose women captured the 2021 National Championship and whose men finished eighth at the meet.
