June 19, 2020 | Women's Swimming and Diving
AUSTIN, Texas – Standout senior diver Serica Hallstead of the Army West Point women's swimming and diving team was named CoSIDA Academic All-America® First Team on Friday afternoon.
CoSIDA recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performance in athletic competition and in the classroom.
Hallstead, a three-time CoSIDA Academic First Team All-District honoree and three-time Academic All-Patriot League performer, becomes the first diver in program history to be named an academic All-American. She additionally is the first cadet to earn All-America recognition since Kristen Barta '15 collected the honor following the 2014-15 campaign.
Throughout her four years at the Academy, Hallstead consistently posted high marks in the classroom. She closed out her academic career with a 4.206 spring semester grade-point average en route to finishing with a 4.072 cumulative GPA as a life science major.
Her talents were not limited to the classroom as the Canandaigua, N.Y., native excelled on the boards as well. A four-time All-Patriot League diver, Hallstead capped her diving career by being named the league's diver of the meet this past March. She became the first cadet to receive the honor since Lindsey Adao '10 earned it in 2010.
At the league championships, she medaled in both diving events after winning on the 1-meter board and placing third on the 3-meter. Hallstead leaves West Point with the Academy and pool records on the 3-meter.
