Renard, Mikoud Highlight League Championship Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. –The Army West Point track and field team received several honors from the Patriot League, with Michael Renard and Emily Mikoud highlighting the awards as they were both named Patriot League Field Athletes of the Meet.

Renard continued his year of dominance in the shot put, breaking the Patriot League Championship mark of 18.70 meters to win the gold medal. Earlier this year, the senior set both the Army and Patriot League records with a throw of 18.76 meters. Renard and teammate Geoff Kirk, who also beat the previous record in the meet with his throw of 18.16 meters, are the only Cadets in program history to achieve shot put throws of over 18 meters.Â

On the women's side, Emily Mikoud won the shot put with an impressive 15.14-meter throw to claim gold for the Black Knights. Mikoud won Patriot League Field Athlete of the Week three times this season after being named the league's Rookie of the Meet at both the indoor and outdoor championships in 2019. Her 15.39-meter shot put throw earlier this year remains the Army West Point program record.Â

In addition to the major awards, the Black Knights were credited with 25 All-League performances for finishing either first or second in an event. Abigail Green was among them, as she set the Army and Patriot League Championship records in the women's weight throw with a mark of 19.49 meters. The team placed second overall in both the men's and women's meets.Â
