LONGWOOD, Fla. – The Army West Point softball team picked up its fifth consecutive win Wednesday afternoon, as it topped Cleveland State, 4-3.

Jolie Duong pitched six innings, allowing three earned runs. The sophomore also belted a two-run homer in her first at bat. Additionally, Taylor Drayton and Madi Gilmore both had multi-hit games.

ARMY NOTES AND HIGHLIGHTS

Duong is now up to four home runs on the season and has hit two in the last three games.
Drayton was 2-for-3 at the plate with two doubles.
She's registered eight doubles this year and 12 extra base hits.
This was Drayton's seventh multi-hit game of the season.
Gilmore had two runs batted in, which improved her season total to 12
She now has five multi-hit efforts this year.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Army again used a quick start in the top of the first, with a three run first inning. After Alicyn Grete beat out a throw to advance to first base on an error, Duong sent a two-run blast over the left field fence.
In the next at bat, Drayton drilled a double out to the fence in left center. She was sent home on an RBI single from Gilmore.
Cleveland State got two runs back in the second and third to cut Army's lead to 3-2 by the end of the third inning.
The Vikings would go on to tie the game up in the top of the sixth at 3-3.
Drayton blasted another double out to the fence with one out in the bottom of the sixth. She tried coming around to score off a single from Snelling, but was gunned out by the Cleveland State center fielder. Though, Snelling would score in the next at bat thanks to an RBI double from Gilmore to put Army up 4-3.
Grete replaced Duong on the mound in the seventh inning and recorded her second save of the season.
