Army Falls on the Road to Lafayette

EASTON, Pa. – The Army West Point women's basketball team fell to Patriot League foe Lafayette on the road at the Kirby Sports Center Wednesday evening, 67-58.

The matchup was tight through the first three quarters of play with Army holding a 42-41 lead with just over a minute remaining in the third. Though, Lafayette, which is now 9-2 at home, responded with an 18-1 run which spanned from the closing moments of the third quarter to nearly the three-and-a-half-minute mark of the fourth.

- Army leads the all-time series with the Leopards 42-27, but Lafayette has emerged as the victor in the last three meetings.
- Sarah Bohn finished with 12 points and was 3-of-5 from beyond-the-arc.
- Bohn logged 36 minutes of action on the evening. Since the start of Patriot League play, she's played 35-plus minutes in all but three games.
- Natalie Stralkus also registered 12 points on the evening to match her season high.
- The East Brunswick, N.J., native was 4-of-5 from 3-point range. Her four made 3-balls ties her career high.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Army started off shooting strong in the first quarter connecting on six of its 11 field goal attempts. Though it was the Leopards that held the slight 17-16 lead through the first quarter of play.
- Things remained tight in the second quarter, with neither team holding more than a four-point cushion. The lead seesawed for much of the second frame, with the Leopards taking the 30-29 lead into halftime thanks to a jumper from Alexis Santarelli with 13 seconds left in the stanza.
- Bohn was Army's leading scorer at the break with eight points, while Natalie Kucowski paced the Leopards with nine.
- The game was still neck-and-neck in the third with Army and Lafayette trading the lead six separate times.
- With just eight seconds remaining in the third, Kucowski drilled a fast-break trey to give Lafayette the 44-42 lead. The 3-ball triggered an 18-1 run for the Leopards, which was too much for the Black Knights to overcome.
