February 11, 2020 | Softball
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Ally Snelling of the Army West Point softball team was named the Patriot League player of the week, the league office announced Tuesday afternoon.
Â
This marks Snelling's first career player of the week nod and it is the second time that she's taken home a Patriot League weekly honor. The Las Vegas, Nev., native was tabbed the league's rookie of the week on March 12, 2018.
Â
Snelling was 11-of-20 from the plate last weekend at the Bash in the Boro tournament in Statesboro, Ga. In just five games Snelling blasted two home runs, which matched her career total entering the season. She also knocked in a team-leading seven RBIs. The junior also rounded the bases seven times, which was good for the second most runs on the team.
Â
This is the Black Knights' first 4-1 start to a season since 2011. Army looks to build off its hot start to the season when it travels to Lake Elsinore, Calif., this weekend to compete in the Golden State Classic.
