WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball fell to Marist, 83-55, at Christl Arena Saturday afternoon.
After falling behind 11-0 early, Army (2-2) closed out the opening quarter on a 14-2 run to hold a 14-13 lead through the first 10 minutes of play. Marist (1-0) went on to pull away in the second quarter and stayed hot in the second half, shooting 21-of-29 (72.4%) from the floor.
Alisa Fallon was Army's leading scorer with 10 points. The Red Foxes finished with four players in double-digits: Sarah Barcello (15), Trinasia Kennedy (14), Caitlin Weimar (12) and Willow Duffell (12).

"We can learn a lot from this game. Their offense is something that we haven't played before. There's a lot of screening and just a ton of movement, so it was a lot to adjust to. Getting out on shooters is a thing that I think we can to work on."

HIGHLIGHTS AND NOTES
- This was the first meeting between the two schools since Dec. 28, 1999. Army leads the all-time series 9-7, but Marist has won the last six contests.
- Army Head Coach Dave Magarity served as the head coach of the Marist men's basketball team from 1986-2004, where he held a 253-258 all-time record.
- Freshman Sam McNaughton was 3-of-4 from the field in the second half, including 2-of-3 from 3-point range. The Fairfax, Va., native set a new season high with eight points.
- Senior Liz Layne finished with nine points, her highest total since the 2018-19 season-opener against LIU Brooklyn when she had a career-high 10 points.
- Layne corralled five offensive rebounds.
- As a team, Army had 12 offensive boards, 11 of which came in the first half.
- Fallon registered her third consecutive double-digit scoring effort.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First quarter
- Marist jumped out to an early 11-0 lead, but Army used a 14-2 run to hold the one-point advantage at the end of the first.
- Army started off the contest shooting 0-of-6 from the field and 0-of-4 from 3-point range, but managed to close out the quarter shooting 5-of-8 overall and 4-of-6 from 3-point range.
- Conversely, the Red Foxes started 5-of-9 from the field in the first five minutes, but missed their next five attempts.
- Marist used a 15-3 run in the second quarter to pull ahead 29-19 by the 3:31 mark of the second frame.
- The Red Foxes started to heat up, shooting 43.8 percent from the floor in the second and 50 percent from downtown.
- Layne attacked the offensive glass in the second frame, with three offensive boards. Fallon and Murray also had offensive rebounds in the quarter.
- Army had its best shooting quarter in the third, connecting on 50 percent of its shots. McNaughton was 2-of-2 from the floor including a triple.
- Marist, however, also had its best shooting quarter, making 11 of its 15 attempts and all four from deep range.
- Sarah Barcello led the way for the Red Foxes with eight points in the quarter, connecting on a pair of 3-balls.
- Lauren Lithgow contributed six points in the fourth quarter, going 4-of-4 from the charity stripe.
- Marist shot 10-of-14 from the field in the final frame.
