Volleyball Returns Home With Win Over USMMA

WEST POIINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point volleyball team returned to its home court on Saturday, defeating Merchant Marine in an exhibition match at Gillis Field House.

The Black Knights showed their depth throughout the contest, winning the scored part of the match in straight sets 3-0. The teams continued for two unscored sets which Army won as well.

The Black Knights were dominant offensively, hitting a combined .638 as a team in the match. Senior Monica Eckford and freshman Savannah Bray led the offense with 11 kills apiece. Ana Oglivie, Sayler Butters and Danielle Wortman split libero duties, with Oglivie leading the defense with 9 digs. Freshman Isabella Sullivan was the teams leading setter with 20 assists.
Junior Emmy Barnhorst and freshman Allanah Cutler were also strong offensively, hitting .667 and .800 respectively on the day.Â

The Black Knights will look to remain in form as the calendar moves ahead towards a potential return to NCAA action in 2021.
