October 14, 2020 | Football
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Army West Point football sophomore Connor Bishop was named to the Rimington Trophy watch list on Wednesday. The award is presented annually to nation's top center.
Â
Bishop is helping the blocking efforts for the Black Knights' rushing attack which ranks second nationally with 311.0 rushing yards per game. The Holland, Pa., native was named Army's Offensive Player of the Game for the season-opener against Middle Tennessee State, after recording 20 knockdowns in his collegiate debut. The Cadets picked up a total of 340 rushing yards against the Blue Raiders. After being listed as a guard last season, Bishop made the transition to center during summer training camp.Â
Â
The trophy, which was established in 2000, is named after College Football Hall of Famer Dave Rimington, who played center at Nebraska. Rimington was the only two-time winner of the Outland Trophy, claiming the award, given to nation's top interior lineman, in 1981 and 1982.
