Football Heads to UTSA for Second Road Tilt of the Season

SETTING THE SCENE
• The Black Knights are searching for their first road win of the season as they head out to UTSA for their second road contest of the season on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 1:30 p.m. ET at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
• The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network, with Dave Ryan on play-by-play, Corey Chavous as the analyst and Justin Walters as the sideline reporter.
• The game will also be broadcast live on the Army Sports Network by Rich DeMarco and Dean Darling on the call. Fans can follow along on TuneIn Radio starting at 11:30 a.m. ET/10:30 a.m. CT.
FACING THE ROADRUNNERS
• For the second-straight season Army will face UTSA on the road in the Alamodome in San Antonio.
• The Black Knights won the only previous meeting, 31-13, on Sept. 14, 2019.
TEXAS COOKIN'
• The Black Knights are 5-2 in games under head coach Jeff Monken in the state of Texas, a fertile recruiting ground for the Black Knights.
• The Black Knights have won three-straight in Texas heading into Saturday, with a 31-13 win at UTSA in 2019, a 70-14 victory over Houston in the 2018 Armed Forces Bowl in Fort Worth, Texas, and a 42-35 win over San Diego State in the 2017 Armed Forces Bowl also in Fort Worth.
• 21 Black Knights hail from the state of Texas, although none directly from the San Antonio area.
• Most notably, quarterback Jemel Jones hails from The Colony and b-back Cade Barnard from Seminole.
OFF TO A 4-1 START
• This is just the fifth time since 1970 that Army has won at least four games in its first five tilts. The Black Knights started the 1996 season with a 5-0 record. They started 4-1 in 1985, 1988 and 1993.
700 WINS
•The 55-23 victory over ACU was the 700th in the program.
•The last 50 wins (650 to 700) took just the better part of nine seasons (Sept. 17, 2011 to Oct. 3, 2020). The previous 50 wins (600 to 650) took 15 seasons (Sept. 28, 1996 to Sept. 17, 2011).
DEFENSIVE PROWESS
• The Black Knights defense forced two turnovers with a pair of interceptions vs. The Citadel. The Army defense is up to 10 takeaways on the season with six interceptions and four fumbles.
• Army's defense limited the Bulldogs' offense to just nine points. In five of the Black Knights' last six games at Michie Stadium, Army has limited its opponent to fewer than 10 points.
• As a unit, Army's defense had eight tackles for a loss of yardage vs. The Citadel. Thus far on the season, the Black Knights have made 36 stops behind the line of scrimmage for a combined loss of 148 yards.
