McMullen, Mikoud Once Again Earn League Honors
January 28, 2020 | Men's Track and Field, Women's Track and Field
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - For the second consecutive week, senior Calli McMullen and sophomore Emily Mikoud will take home weekly awards as the Patriot League Track and Field Athletes of the Week.Â
McMullen continued to add to her storied Army career this weekend at the John Thomas Terrier Classic, adding two more Academy records to her resume. Entering the weekend as the school record holder in the 60 and 200-meter dashes, McMullen smashed the 400-meter recorrd with a time of 54.66 and helped post a new 4x400 meter dash record of 3:46.00.Â
Mikoud added a new record of her own, breaking the shot put record with a mark of 15.39 meters. She also finished second in the weight throw with the league's second best throw this season, trailing only teammate Allison Green. This marks the third weekly award for Mikoud in four tries this season.
On the men's side, sophomore Justin Young and junior Geoff Kirk earned honorable mention for their performances in Boston. Young won the 60-meter hurdles with a league best time of 7.90. The mark was just .03 behind his career best. Kirk continued his dominant start to the year by posting the second best shot put throw in the Patriot League this season with a mark of 17.91. The only throw to beat that mark this season was Kirk's Academy record 18.36 meter throw.
The Black Knights will head to Penn State for the second time this season for the Penn State National Invitational Jan. 31-Feb.1.Â
