#11 Black Knights Fall to #2 West Virginia

MORGANTOWN, W. Va. – The No. 11 Army West Point rifle team fell to last year's national runner up No. 2 West Virginia, 4683-4648, Sunday at the WVU Shell Building.

Clayton Hanson posted the second highest aggregate score of the match with a total of 1171. The next highest finishers for Army were Kaitlyn Kutz and Lauren McMahan, who each had totals of 1161.

David Koenders of West Virginia had the high score of the match with an aggregate tally of 1179. The Mountaineers claimed seven of the top-10 total scores.

- Ashley Clegg (1148), Aaron Flowers (1144), Emily Gay (1129) and Sawyer Williams (1129) were the other members of the team that competed in both smallbore and air rifle.
SMALLBORE: WEST VIRGINIA 2316, ARMY 2306
- Hanson matched his season high score of 584, which was good for second place overall in smallbore.
- Rounding out the scoring for Army were Kutz, McMahan and Cheshire, all of whom posted scores of 574.
- The top mark belonged to West Virginia's Morgan Phillips, who shot a 588.
AIR RIFLE: WEST VIRGINIA 2367, ARMY 2342
- The trio of Hanson, Kutz and McMahan each had scores of 587 in air rifle. Cheshire was the final scorer for Army with a score of 581.
- Flowers recorded the top score for Army's second team relay with a total of 581.
