Tovkach Claims League Weekly Honors

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. - After her league leading performance in the 800 meter run on Saturday at the Nittany Lion Challenge, sophomore Anna Tovkach has been named Patriot League Women's Track Athlete of the Week.Â
Tovkach recorded a Patriot League season best 2:10.02, which was tops in the Patriot Leagues this season and the second best time in NCAA Division I competition thus far. The time also places her second on Army's all-time list behind Cassie Mundekis, who recorded a 2:08.65 at the ECAC Championships in 2019.Â
The Gainesville, Fla., native is now qualified for the 2020 ECACÂ Indoor Track Championships.Â
In addition, junior Bernard Jenkins of the men's track and field team received league honorable mention for his victory in the high jump. Jenkins 2.01 meter jump was the fourth best in the Patriot League this season.Â
The Black Knights will return to action this weekend at VMI's Keydet Invitational in Lexington, Va.Â
