Army Kicks Off Black Knights Invitational With Win

WEST POINT, N.Y – The Army West Point volleyball team returned to its home court to defeat Binghamton at the Black Knights Invitational on Friday.

The Black Knights (4-3) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the match after a back and forth first set that Army took 25-20 and a strong second set that they won 25-11. The team recorded an impressive 83% attack percentage in the second.

Binghamton would show some strong opposition in the third set, leading by as much as eight points deep into the frame. Army fought back behind a dominant effort from senior Sydney Morriss, who posted five of her match-leading twelve kills and two blocks in the final frame.

Senior Nikki Lum led the squad with 17 assists and Ana Oglivie recorded 21 digs (7.0 digs/set).

The Black Knights return to action with two matches on Saturday beginning with a matchup with Kent State at 11 p.m. before wrapping up the tournament with Bryant at 5 p.m.
