WEST POINT, N.Y. — After double overtime, the Army West Point women's soccer team tied Iona 1-1 on Wednesday night from Malek Stadium at Clinton Field.
Alyssa Carfagno scored in the 60th minute to give the Black Knights a 1-0 lead. The Gaels converted on a penalty kick to tie the score and to force overtime.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Carfagno nailed the bottom right corner in the 60th minute of the game to push the Cadets ahead 1-0.
- Dara Murray chipped in on the assist.
- Iona scored low right on a penalty kick nine minutes later to tie the game and force overtime.
HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Army is now 2-2-2 on the year, while Iona moves to 1-5-1.
- The Black Knights held a 14-7 advantage in shots and edged the Gaels 8-2 in corner kicks.
- Sydney Cassalia made four saves in the game.
- Carfagno netted her second goal of the season tonight and increases her point total to four this season.
- Murray's assist was her first collegiate point.
