2019 Volleyball Schedule
WEST POINT, N.Y. – Head coach Alma Kovaci Lee has unveiled the 29-game volleyball schedule for 2019 which includes two home tournaments, the annual Star Match against Navy and tournament play at Hawai'i and Yale.
"I am happy with our 2019 schedule," said Kovaci Lee. "We will be facing some tough competition during all tournaments and I like that. I believe this year's team is up for the challenge. They are determined, tough and ready to battle. I believe these tournaments will physically and mentally prepare us for our conference matches. This group had a great spring season. They are stronger, faster, tougher and play with great chemistry. I can't wait to start training camp in August."
For the third year in a row, the season will commence at Gillis Field House with the Army Invitational beginning Aug. 31 – Sept. 1. The Cadets welcome Rhode Island, Iona and New Hampshire for the two-day tournament.
The following weekend Army heads to the Rainbow State to take on host Hawai'i, Denver and Sacramento State. The Black Knights Invitational is Sept. 13-14 when Kent State, Binghamton and Bryant come to the banks of the Hudson.
Tournament season will conclude in New Haven, Conn., at the Bulldogs Invitational with competitions versus host Yale, Sacred Heart and Stony Brook.
Army then hosts five-straight home matches in a two-week span. The annual Star Match against service academy rival Navy opens the Patriot League slate on Sept. 27. The Black Knights then welcome American (Sept. 28), Marist (Oct. 1), Holy Cross (Oct. 5) and Colgate (Oct. 6).
The Cadets travel to Bucknell and Lehigh for their first league road matches the following weekend before hosting Lafayette (Oct. 15) and Loyola (Oct. 18).
Army hits the road for the ensuing two weekends with matches at American and Navy (Oct. 25-26) followed by contests at Colgate and Holy Cross (Nov. 1-2).
For senior weekend, the Black Knights host Lehigh and Bucknell (Nov. 8-9), before taking on Lafayette (Nov. 12) and Loyola (Nov. 16) on the road to close out the regular season.
The Patriot League Tournament will be at the highest seed Nov. 23-24.
