Black Knights Rise in National Polls

WEST POINT, N.Y. - After winning the Patriot League Championship, the Army West Point men's lacrosse team is on the rise this week and are up to as high as 12th in ranked in this week's national polls. The Black Knights are 12th in the Inside Lacrosse Media Poll and are 14th in the U.S. Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Coaches Poll.
Army is now 13-4 on the year with three wins against nationally ranked programs. The Black Knights defeated UMass in the season opener before routing Rutgers in more non-conference action, and then topped Loyola in the Patriot League Semifinals 7-5. The Cadets are 3-2 against ranked opponents this season and are 2-1 against opponents ranked inside the top-10.
Army is heading to fourth-seeded Penn for the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The first-round matchup is set for 5 p.m. at Franklin Field in Philadelphia.
The Black Knights are making their first NCAA Tournament appearance since 2010 and it is their 20th time in program history making the NCAA field. Army received an automatic bid after claiming the Patriot League Championship with an 11-7 victory over Lehigh on Sunday.
