Brattan, Burns Named to All-Tournament Team
May 04, 2019 | Women's Lacrosse
CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Following the Army West Point women's lacrosse team's first-ever appearance in the Patriot League Tournament, Jackie Brattan and Maddie Burns were named to the all-tournament squad.
Brattan compiled nine points on eight goals and an assist in a pair of postseason games. In the 12-9 quarterfinal round victory against Lehigh, the sophomore tallied four goals and an assist to go with seven draw controls and two caused turnovers. The seven draws helped her become the first cadet in program history to total 100 in her career. She followed that performance with a four-goal outing against No. 14 Navy in the semifinal round. Her four goals gave her 63 for the year, making her the first cadet to eclipse the 60-goal mark in a single season.
Burns was a catalyst in Army's win over Lehigh in the quarterfinals after coming up with 10 saves and limiting the Mountain Hawks to just nine goals. Her play was crucial down the stretch, making eight saves in the second half to allow the Black Knights to hold their lead before ultimately securing the win. The junior netminder then saved 13 shots in a semifinal loss to service-academy rival Navy in the semifinals.
