Raymond Reels in ECAC Rookie of the Year Honors

DANBURY, Conn. – Freshman Caroline Raymond was named the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Rookie of the Year on Thursday afternoon, while sophomore Jackie Brattan collected All-ECAC Second Team honors.
Raymond, who became the first cadet in program history to receive a postseason major award after being named the Patriot League Rookie of the Year earlier this month, put forth a historic season for the Black Knights' program during her freshman campaign. She set a single-season program record after totaling 67 points, marking the first-ever 60-point season by a cadet. Raymond additionally broke the single-season assists record with 24 helpers.
The Mahopac, N.Y., native put up 18 multi-point performances and logged seven hat tricks. She finished second in single-season scoring after tallying 43 goals, while finishing inside the top 10 in the Patriot League in goals per game (2.39), assists per game (1.33) and points per game (3.72). Â Â
"We are unbelievably proud of Caroline for the freshman campaign she put together, and she is so deserving of the postseason recognition" Noto Family Head Women's Lacrosse Coach Kristen Skiera said. "To be recognized as the top rookie in such a competitive east coast region with some of the strongest lacrosse programs in the country is truly reflective of Caroline's talent and ability. She was a consistent performer this year with unparalleled physical strength and athleticism. Game in and game out she was matched up with our opponent's top defenders and played with maturity and precision beyond her years. It is so exciting knowing she is just scratching the surface for what lies in her future and our program's future."
Brattan was a lethal scoring threat for the Black Knights, finishing second in the league and inside the top-20 nationally in goals scored with 63. The First Team All-Patriot League performer closed out her sophomore campaign with 65 points and 105 draw controls. She was the first cadet to ever record 100 draws in a season and the second to ever post 50 points.
The Garden City, N.Y., native was lethal on the 8-meter and held the nation's top free position percentage (.773). She had 16 multi-goal outings and scored in all 19 games. She recorded 13 hat tricks and scored four or more goals in nine contests. Â

"Jackie's skill, intensity and execution on the draw and offensive end has helped propel our program to new heights. The level of maturity and urgency she played with this season as just a sophomore is so impressive. She was consistently one of the most dominant players on the field all season long and warrants recognition as one of the top players in the country. We could not be more proud of Jackie and excited for what lies ahead for her and the team."
