Black Knights Fall in Series Finale Versus Colgate

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point softball team was unable to overcome its three errors as it fell in the series finale against Colgate, 4-2, at the Army Softball Complex on Sunday afternoon.

Junior Emily Ballesteros and sophomore Taylor Livingston were the two major threats for the Black Knights offensively, combining for six of the squad's seven hits in the game. Livingston scored a run and posted the only extra-base hit of the afternoon for the home side with a double in the seventh inning, while Ballesteros drove in a run.

In the circle, senior Renee Poirier and junior Macey Newbary combined to scatter seven hits throughout the game while all four runs that Colgate scored were unearned.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Raiders scored the game's opening run on an RBI double by Meghan Romero in the third inning.
- Colgate added a sacrifice in the frame to take a 2-0 lead.
- Yoo utilized her speed on the base paths and cut the deficit to one as she scored from second on an error.
- The visitors padded their lead with an RBI single from Rebecca Johnson to make it a 3-1 game.
- Colgate increased its lead in the following inning thanks to an RBI infield single by Mia Guevarra.
- The Black Knights persisted and added a run in the seventh inning on a Ballesteros RBI single through the middle that plated Livingston who started the rally with a two-out double.

- Ballesteros tallied her sixth multi-hit game of the year with a season-high three base knocks.
- The Chino Hills, native drove in her 10th RBI of the season.
- Livingston posted her fifth multi-hit effort of the season and second three-hit game.
- Drayton tallied her 25th hit of the season.

- The Black Knights will wrap up this five-match home stand with a midweek doubleheader against Hudson Valley-rival Marist on Wednesday. First pitch is slated for 3:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m., respectively.
