Army Tops Navy to Head to PL Championship

WILLIAMSPORT, Pa. – The third-seeded Army West Point women's tennis team came back after dropping the doubles point to capture a 4-2 victory over service-academy rival Navy in the Patriot League Semifinals at the Central Pennsylvania Tennis Center on Saturday.
The Black Knights improved to 21-7 on the year, while the Mids capped their season with a record of 23-9.
After dropping the doubles point, rookie Stephanie Dolehide cruised to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at the No. 4 singles position to tie the match at one apiece. The two sides split the next two points in the third and fifth flights before sophomore Ana Joyner put the Black Knights ahead with a win in the No. 1 position. Senior captain Kirby Einck closed out the match and sent the Black knights to their second consecutive Patriot League Championship appearance with a three-set victory in the second flight to clinch the victory.

- The Black Knights improved to 10-4 in the all-time series with Navy and 6-1 in postseason matches.
- Army moved to 2-5 when dropping the doubles point in 2019.
- The Cadets have won 21 of their 25 Patriot League semifinals in the program's history.
- Einck tallied her 69th career singles victory, moving into a tie with Carolyn Pitman and Diana Alquero for ninth on Army's all-time list.
