The visitors led off the frame with a home run to left field before Army registered the first two outs. Unfortunately, Marist earned seven hits over the next eight batters to score an additional six runs.
- The Black Knights cut into the deficit in the fifth after Macias brought home Adams with an RBI-single. Adams doubled to left center to kick off the frame before Josh White singled to third base to place runners on the corners with no outs. Macias followed suit with his single through the right side to score Army's first run of the game.
- Marist extended its advantage to 9-1 in the top of the sixth when it plated two runs on two hits.
- Cerruto then drilled a one-out, solo shot over the left field fence to pull Army within 9-2. That hit was the rookie's first career home run.
- The Red Foxes registered an additional run in the seventh to create an eight-run gap between the teams at 10-2.
- The Cadets continued to try to cut into the deficit in the bottom half after Cerruto brought home one of two Army runs during the frame. His single to right field scored Williams, who led off the inning with a walk. Jax Luzinski also touched home plate during that play after Marist was tagged with a throwing error.
- Williams then registered an RBI of his own when he singled to right center to score Matt Hudgins, who notched a one-out single down the right field line during the previous at bat.
