CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Junior Serica Hallstead and senior Kara Wineinger of the Army West Point women's swimming and diving team collected Academic All-Patriot League honors on Tuesday.
To be considered for Academic All-Patriot League, a sophomore-standing student-athlete must maintain a minimum of a 3.20 cumulative grade point average and must have competed in the Patriot League Championships, unless missed due to injury. The Sports Information Directors then cast their votes from a pool of candidates.
Hallstead, a Life Sciences major, carries a 4.080 grade-point average and makes her second consecutive appearance on the academic all-league team. The Canandaigua, N.Y., native finished fourth on the 1-meter and fifth on the 3-meter board at the league championships. She was practically unbeatable during the regular season, claiming first-place finishes on both boards in five different meets.
Wineinger also received academic all-league honors for the second straight year. The Mathematical Sciences major holds a 3.955 GPA and finished inside the top three in both individual events at the league championships. Her times in the 100 breast (1:01.31) and 200 breast (2:14.11) were both Academy records.
