Harvey and Nichols Named CEP Athletes of March

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Junior Ben Harvey of Army West Point wrestling and junior Donia Nichols of women's track and field were named the Corps Squad Scholar Athletes of the Month for March.
BEN HARVEY
Hometown: New Palestine, Ind.

"Ben is physically and mentally tough," head coach Kevin Ward said. "He demonstrates excellence on and off the mat. Being a top-20 wrestler in the country and among the top-10 percent of his class academically does not happen by accident. It's the result of hours of disciplined study, hard work, and dedication to his craft. We look forward to Ben's final year in our program as he leads our team to continue chasing greatness."

HIGHLIGHTS
- Harvey currently maintains a 3.72 cumulative grade-point average as a Political Science major.
- He recently completed fall 2018 with an outstanding 3.73 semester GPA.Â
- Over the course of his five semesters at West Point, he has made the Dean's List each semester.
- Harvey maintains a 3.07 military GPA and currently serves as a Squad Leader in Company H4.Â
- He earned 353 points and the Army Physical Fitness Badge on his most recent Army Physical Fitness Test (APFT), and scored an A- on his Second Class IOCT, earning the IOCT Tab.Â
- The junior competed at 174 pounds and finished his season one-win shy of begin an All-American for the second consecutive year.
- At the national tournament last week, he defeated two-time All-American David McFadden of Virginia Tech en route to reaching the  quarterfinal round.
- He finished his season as a top-12 wrestler nationally with a 30-8 record.
- Harvey was a champion of the Black Knights Invitational and finished inside the top eight at every other tournament he entered.

HIGHLIGHTS
- Nichols posted a personal best in the 2018 indoor season in the mile.
- She began the 2019 outdoor season with a 21st-place finish in the 3000m run at the Penn Challenge.
- The junior competed in the 10,000m at the Bison Outdoor Classic and earned a spot on the Patriot League Championships team in 2018.
- She is a team leader in the realm of academic, earning places on the 2017 and 2018 Patriot League Fall Academic Honor Roll.
- Her contributions were essential to the Women's Cross Team receiving the Academic Progress Rate (APR) Public Recognition Award from the NCAA, an award given to a team scoring in the top ten percent nationally for academic performance.
- Nichols holds a 4.0 GPA as a Mathematical Sciences major.
- She also excels in her cadet duties, taking on the duties of a squad leader and maintaining a cumulative military program score of 3.0.
- She is a member of the Theatre Arts Guild, the Society of American Engineers, and the Vietnamese-American Forum. She is also the Cadet in Charge of the Society of Women Engineers.
