Seniors Lead Charge in Comeback Effort

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Down 3-2 with nine minutes remaining, the Army West Point hockey team rallied back to force a 3-3 tie with Bentley on senior night.

Dalton MacAfee netted the game-tying score forcing the extra time. The Black Knights killed off a lengthy 5-on-3 to preserve the tie.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Mason Krueger picked up where he left off last night scoring two of Army's goals.
- The sophomore opened the night by netting a goal 13:06 into the contest.
- Brendan Soucie passed the puck over to Matt Berkovitz who backhanded it into the slot.
- Krueger was waiting on the door step getting it past Bryniarski on his stick side.
- Bentley scored a 5-on-3 goal 49 seconds into the second stanza to tie things up 1-1.
- With 12:47 on the clock, Krueger struck again in similar fashion giving the Black Knights a 2-1 advantage.
- Soucie and Berkovitz set up the score for the sophomore forward on the power play.
- To kick off the third frame, Bentley netted a pair of goals spaced 46 seconds apart to jump ahead, 3-2.
- Not to worry, MacAfee kept Army alive with an even-strength goal at the 8:48 mark.
- Eric Butte dished the puck over to Zach Evancho who changed ice finding MacAfee at the blue line.
- MacAfee fired a shot from the right side beating Bryniarski to tie the game.
- Army fought off a 5-on-3 penalty kill late in the game to keep the score knotted 3-3.
- In overtime, the Black Knights had a slew of close opportunities including a shot by Butte that rang off the pipe.

- The Black Knights outshot the Falcons for the second night in a row, 30-19.
- Army closes out its home slate with a 4-8-3 record at Tate Rink for the 2018-19 campaign.
- The nation's sixth-best team on the man-advantage recorded its 34th powerplay goal of the season.
- The Black Knights' have the fourth-most powerplay tallies in the nation behind No. 4 Minnesota State (38), No. 5 Quinnipiac (37) and No. 2 UMass (36). Â
- Krueger potted his seventh and eighth goals of the season in his first multi-goal effort.
- The sophomore has tallied 10 career goals and 19 points.
- It marked the first time this season Krueger has scored in three consecutive games.
- He added his third powerplay goal of the season.
- Tonight marked his first multi-goal game and third multi-point game in his career.
- Soucie notched his second multi-point night of the year with with a season-high two assists.
- The junior now has seven assists and 15 points on the year.
- MacAfee netted his personal-best sixth goal of the season for his team-leading 30th point.
- The senior has contributed 13 career goals and 67 points.
- Berkovitz tallied his second multi-assist game of the season with two helpers tonight.
- It was his second multi-point game this year.
- The sophomore has eight assists and nine points on the year.
- Evancho dished out his 17th assist of the season and 27th point.
- The junior now has 34 helpers in his career and 65 points.
- Butte collected his fourth assist of the year and sixth point.
- It is the fourth time Army has gone to overtime in six games.
- Matt Penta made 16 saves in tonight's contest.Â

- The Black Knights head to Erie, Pa., next weekend to face Mercyhurst in the first-round of the Atlantic Hockey playoffs.
