Black Knights Take Down Tribe and Pride

WILLIAMSVILLE, Va. – The Army West Point gymnastics excelled in Saturday's tri-meet against William & Mary and Springfield.
The Black Knights took away the most points on the day (394.000) to take down William & Mary (391.950) and Springfield (375.250).
For the third week in a row, Mathew Davis won the all-around with a 79.750 and Cole Casanova was second at 79.150.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND MEET NOTES
- The Cadets won the pommel horse (63.550), still rings (65.500) and parallel bars (64.300).
- The Black Knights improved from last week on the parallel bars, still rings and floor exercise (67.850).
- Davis championed the floor exercise (14.100), while Casanova ranked first on parallel bars (13.500). Erik Del Cid led all competitors with a 14.350 on vault.
- Del Cid matched his career-high mark on the vault today.
- He also set a career-high on floor exercise in the meet after turning out a 14.000 to place second.
- Kiernan Reagan's 13.250 on parallel bars surpassed his career-high. He was the runner-up.
COMPETITION
- Davis and Del Cid went one-two on floor to lead the Cadets off.
- Casanova placed fourth with marks of 13.900.
- Elliott Herman ranked 11th with a 13.200.
- The Black Knights ranked between fifth and eighth on pommel horse.
- Army was led by Casanova (12.950), Brandon Shively (12.850), Matthew Martin (12.750), Rex Scott (12.600) and Elijah-Ty Phelps (12.400).
- On still rings, Davis finished as the runner-up after earning a 13.500.
- Herman was next in the fifth-place spot (13.150) and was followed by Reagan (13.00) in sixth, Taka Giese (12.950) in seventh and Casanova (12.900) in eighth.
- Del Cid hammered home a 14.350 on vault to secure the top spot.
- Casanova (13.700) and Davis (13.650) finished sixth and seventh for Army.
- Senior captain Casanova followed that performance with a 13.500 on parallel bars to champion the event.
- Reagan was second at 13.250 and Davis fourth at 13.150.
- Scott was Army's top competitor on high bar where he ranked second overall. He earned a 13.800 to set a new career-high.
- Darrel Yamamura (13.250) and Davis (13.200) finished in fourth and fifth.
UP NEXT
- The Black Knights compete at College Nationals next weekend in a two-day event.
- The competition will be held in Annapolis, Md.
