No. 19 Army Kicks Off Spring Practice March 7
February 22, 2019 | Football
WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point football team will open its spring practices Thursday, March 7.
Head coach Jeff Monken enters his sixth year at the helm of Army football and is coming off one of the program's best seasons in Academy history, one which he led the Black Knights to a national ranking.
Â
The Cadets most recently defeated Houston in the 2018 Lockheed Martin Armed Forces Bowl to claim their third-straight bowl victory. Army also took down Navy in the month of December for its third-consecutive win over its archrival. Following that victory the Black Knights were awarded the Commander In Chief's trophy in back-to-back years for the first time. They finished the season with an Academy record 11 wins and earned the Lambert Trophy for the first time in 60 years.
Â
The Black Knights will bring their nine-game winning streak into the 2019 campaign, the second-longest active streak in the nation. They have also won 13 games in a row at Michie Stadium, dating back to 2016.
Army will be holding its practices at Goldstein and Howze Fields as well as the Foley Athletic Center before convening at Michie Stadium for the spring game on April 12.
The Black Knights open 2019 at home against Rice on Aug. 30. Army will also welcome Morgan State (Sept. 21), Tulane (Oct. 5), San Jose State (Oct. 26), Massachusetts (Nov. 9), and VMI (Nov. 16) at Michie Stadium this season.
All practices are open to the public and free of charge. Dates and times are subject to change. All practice times are TBA.
