Cadets Capture Home Win Over Boston U., 71-61

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Four Cadets scored in double-figures as the Army West Point men's basketball team completed the season sweep of Boston U. following a 71-61 win on Wednesday afternoon at Christl Arena.
The Black Knights (12-14, 7-6 Patriot League) were led in scoring by Tommy Funk's 17 points, which the junior paired with a team-best four assists. Matt Wilson had an efficient outing as well, knocking down seven shots on 11 tries for 15 points, while reeling in a game-high 11 rebounds for a double-double.
Alex King and Lonnie Grayson both shot over 50 percent from the field against the Terriers (11-15, 4-9 Patriot League) and finished with 10 points apiece. Off the bench, Cayne Edwards did some damage from down low after coming away with eight points on 4-of-6 shooting.

- He is just the 20th cadet to accomplish that feat in three seasons.
- The Alexandria, Ky., native notched his sixth double-double of the year.
- He also passed Steve Rothert for 13th in all-time rebounds with 553.
- The Black Knights completed their first-ever season series sweep of Boston U.
- Jordan Fox corralled a season-best eight rebounds.
- The senior tied Bill Hannon for 22nd in all-time scoring with 1,155 points.
- Army scored 14 points off 12 Boston U. turnovers.
- It was the 22nd time this season that the Black Knights recorded double-digit points off their opponent's miscues.
- The Cadets assisted on 62 percent of their made shots.
- The Black Knights scored 36 points in the paint.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- It was a one-point game with 12:45 on the clock in the opening half before Army went on a 19-4 run that lasted over nearly an eight-minute span. During that stretch, the Cadets shot 8-of-13 from the field and a perfect 3-of-3 from long range to go ahead, 25-14. It was the Black Knights' defensive efforts that helped them take the lead as the Cadets turned the Terriers over three times and held Boston U. to just two made shots.
- Boston U. outscored the Cadets, 11-7, in the closing five minutes of the frame to trim the deficit to seven, 32-25, heading into the half.
- An 11-5 run by the Terriers over the first five minutes of the second stanza brought Boston U. within a single point, 37-36. However, the Black Knights extended their lead to nine after countering with a 13-5 run. Over the final seven minutes of action, the Cadets shot 83 percent from the field and 10-of-11 from the free throw line to close out the contest and secure the 10-point home win.
