WEST POINT, N.Y. – Sophomore Grace Mattimore of the Army West Point softball team was named the Patriot League Player of the Week following her impressive performance during the team's opening weekend.
Mattimore earned her first league honor after hitting .500 (6-for-12) with three home runs, two doubles, four walks, four runs scored and 11 RBI. The Ashburn, Va., native either leads or is tied for the lead in every offensive category and has already surpassed her marks from last season in less than half the at bats.
The Black Knights return to action this weekend as they travel to the Golden State for an 11-game set, starting with the CSUN Early Bird Classic. Army opens the tournament against the host Matadors on Friday with a twin bill at 11 a.m. ET and 1:15 p.m. ET.
