Cadets Fall on the Road to St. John's

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's basketball team's two-game win-streak came to an end Monday evening at Carnesecca Arena, as the Black Knights fell to St. John's, 96-60.
The Cadets had three members finish with double-digit points led by Alisa Fallon's 15 points. Fallon shot 5-of-12 from the field and was 4-of-5 from the charity stripe. Natalie Stralkus and Lindsey Scamman both contributed 12 points on the evening. Stralkus shot 4-of-5 from beyond-the-arc, while Scamman was 5-of-7 from the floor.
St. John's shot 58 percent from the field, including 40 percent from 3-point range. Leading the way for the Red Storm was Leilanli Correa, who finished the contest with 33 points. Qadashah Hoppie and Kadaja Bailey also put up double-digit scoring as both registered 13 points.

- St. John's now leads the all-time series 11-4.
- Alisa Fallon improved her double-digit scoring streak to seven straight games.
- This marked the sixth time this season that Scamman has put up double-digit points.
- All 12 of Stralkus' points came in the fourth quarter. Her four made 3-pointers marked a new career high.
- Morgann Yancey finished with a season-high eight points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- St. John's jumped to an early lead in the first quarter, holding a 13-2 advantage through the first few minutes of play. Army, however, started to find its groove, narrowing the Red Storm's lead to 18-14 with just under two minutes to play in the opening frame. St. John's would work to take 25-16 lead through the opening quarter of play.
- The Red Storm again had a strong start to the quarter in the second frame, starting the quarter on a 17-2 run.
- St. John's shot 57.5 percent from the field in the first half helping it take a 57-26 lead into halftime.
- Army's leading scorer at the midway point was Scamman who had seven points on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor.
- Army shot 42.9 percent from the floor in the third quarter and was 3-of-4 from the charity stripe. Though, St. John's shot at a 70.6 percent clip in the frame, connecting on 12 of its 17 shots.
- In the fourth quarter Army turned to its bench. In just over seven minutes of play, Stralkus shot 4-of-6 from the field with all of her made baskets coming from 3-point range.
