Explosive Second Period Lifts Army over Bentley

WEST POINT, N.Y. – Thanks to three goals in the second period, the Army West Point hockey team defeated Bentley 4-3 on home ice Friday night.
The Black Knights improve to 11-4-0 overall and 9-4-0 in Atlantic Hockey after their fourth win in a row.
Daniel Haider had a career night with three points on a goal and three assists. Anthony Firriolo netted his first-career goal in the effort and John Keranen produced a pair of assists.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Army charged ahead 11 minutes into the action with a goal by Haider from the doorstep.
- Bentley tied the game with 1:26 to go in the opening period, but the lead would not last for long.
- The Black Knights exploded in the second period with three tallies by three different goal scorers.
- Mason Krueger got things rolling at the 17:16 mark after rebounding a shot by Thomas Farrell to spark the scoring run.
- Firriolo netted his first-career goal three minutes later before Franco closed out the run thanks to a power play goal with 11:00 on the clock.
- Bentley staged a comeback in the third period with back-to-back tallies with 8:11 remaining in the game.
- The Falcons tried their hand at a 6-on-5 opportunity, but Franco made a huge block to close out the game and to keep the Army team on top.
HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Haider had a standout game posting three points.
- The sophomore's three points was a career-high after a goal and two assists.
- It was Haider's first multi-point game as well.
- John Keranen notched a pair of assists which tied his career-high.
- Krueger netted goal three of the season and 15 of the season.
- Franco's power play score was his second of 2019-20. He now has three goals and 11 points this season.
- The senior approaches 100 points and has 85 thus far on 38 goals and 47 assists.
- Black Knights in the assist column include Farrell, Cody Fleckenstein, Zach Evancho and John Zimmerman.
- Trevin Kozlowski registered 16 saves on the night.
