TEMPE, Ariz. – The Army West Point women's basketball team fell to No. 18 Arizona State Sunday evening at Desert Financial Arena, 83-51.
The contest marked Dave Magarity's 400th game as head coach of the Black Knights. The program's all-time leader in wins, he owns a record of 248-152 (.620) now in his 14th year at Army.
Despite the result, both teams shot nearly identical percentages from the field with Arizona State shooting 43.0 percent and Army connecting on 40.4 percent of their shots. The Sun Devils created separation with second chance points, as they finished with 32.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- For the second consecutive game Lindsey Scamman reached double figures. The 29 Palms, Calif., native registered a team-high 12 points.
- Army attempted a total of 24 free throws, knocking down 16.
- The Cadets had 18 points off the bench, led by Libby Tacka's seven.
- Freshmen Hope Brown and Espi Varoz each registered their first collegiate points.
- This marked just the second all-time meeting between the two schools. The only other time the two had clashed was on Dec. 20, 2011, when the Sun Devils won, 83-46, in Tempe.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- The Sun Devils jumped out to 15-2 lead to start the game, though Army would work back to cut Arizona State's lead to 24-15 by the end of the first quarter.
- Scamman was responsible for nine of the Black Knights' 15 points in the opening quarter, as she shot 4-of-6 from the field.
Second Quarter
- The Sun Devils opened the second quarter with a 13-1 run, to increase their lead to 37-16. Army strung together a six-point scoring run to cut into lead. Though, the Sun Devils got the differential back up to 21 points by the end of the half, taking the 48-27 advantage into the break.
- Brown earned two trips to the charity stripe in the second frame. The freshman was 3-of-4 from the line, while the team as a whole was 6-of-8 in the quarter.
Third Quarter
- Arizona State came out strong to start the second half, eventually jumping to a 64-32 lead with 3:20 left in the third after an 8-0 run.
- Five of Army's nine points in the quarter came from the free throw line. Alisa Fallon led the team's effort, shooting a perfect 4-of-4 from the free throw line in quarter.
Fourth Quarter
- Army shot 5-of-10 from the field in the final quarter of play. The Black Knights outscored the Sun Devils, 15-12, in the frame.
- The Cadets scoring was evenly distributed in the fourth, as seven different players scored.
