Army Erases 21-Point Deficit to Beat Air Force

USAF Academy, Colo. – After trailing by as many as 21 points, the Army West Point women's basketball team used a strong second half to come back and beat service academy foe Air Force, 68-66, Wednesday evening at Clune Arena.
Leading the second half push were Sabria Hunter and Alisa Fallon. Hunter, who scored eight of the Black Knights' first 10 points in the second half, shot 6-of-8 from the field in the final 20 minutes. Fallon took over in the fourth quarter, scoring eight points including a pair of threes.
Army shot 58.1 percent from the field (18-of-31) in the second half and was 44.4 percent from beyond the arc (4-of-9). The Black Knights held the Falcons to 30.9 percent shooting (13-of-42) in the same half.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- With the win, Dave Magarity now owns a record of 7-2 against the Falcons and is 4-0 in games played at Air Force. The 14th-year head coach holds a mark of 249-152 at Army.
- Hunter registered her second career double-digit scoring game, finishing with 16 points. Additionally, the freshman forward collected 10 rebounds to record her first career double-double.
- Fallon totaled 10 points on the evening, marking the second time in her career that she's reached double figures. The other time came against St. Francis Brooklyn on Nov. 28, 2018, when she put up 11 points.
- Fallon also dished out a game-high four assists.
- Lindsey Scamman increased her double-digit scoring streak to three games with 15 points.
- The Black Knights' bench contributed 31 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- After a slow start for both teams, Air Force shot out to a 10-2 lead.
- The Black Knights cut the lead to four, with Sabria Hunter connecting on a free throw and Espi Varoz drilling her first career 3-pointer.
Second Quarter
- Army opened the second quarter with a 5-0 run with buckets from Fallon and Kate Murray, but Air Force responded with 16-2 run to take the 32-15 lead.
- The Falcons earned their largest lead of the game with just under a minute left, going up 39-18. The Black Knights would score the half's final four point to make it a 17-point deficit at the break.
Third Quarter
- Led by Hunter, Army opened up the half on an 9-2 run to open the half, which cut Air Force's lead down to 10.
- Army later used a 12-0 spurt to even the score at 43-43 with just under 30 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
- The Black Knights outscored the Falcons 21-6 in the third quarter.
Fourth Quarter
- Army earned its first lead of the contest with just under six minutes remaining in regulation, with a three-ball from Fallon to give the Black Knights the 54-51 advantage.
- The scoring was back-and-forth in the final quarter. Air Force regained the lead with just over two minutes remaining on a 3-pointer from freshman Nikki McDonald, which put it up 64-63.
- Army freshman Hope Brown answered with a trey of her own to give the lead back to the Black Knights with 1:51 left.
- Trailing by two with three seconds remaining, the Falcons earned a trip to the free throw line for a pair of shots, but were unable to connect.
