Black Knights Fall to Colgate on the Road
November 01, 2019 | Volleyball
HAMILTON, N.Y. - The Army West Point volleyball team was defeated in straight sets by conference foe Colgate on Friday night.
"I give a lot of credit to Colgate," Head Coach Alma Kovaci Lee said. "They played really well and played very clean volleyball. Their setter ran a great offense as you can see by their hitting percentages and our offense struggled tonight."
Colgate out-killed the Black Knights 43-34 and won the hitting percentage battle .261-.061.
"We just couldn't not get into a rhythm offensively," Koavaci Lee said. "We were better in the third set, but we were still plagued by errors caused by a very good Colgate team."
Sydney Morriss was the lone Cadet to reach double-digit kills. She also added a team-high 12 digs for the double-double. Colgate's Alli Lowe was the match's top offensive performer with 15 kills and 11 digs. Setter Julia Kurowski had 34 assists in the contest.
The Black Knights will now head to Worcester, Mass., for a Saturday matchup with Holy Cross.
"We will refocus and get ready for another tough road match tomorrow."
