Golf's Marshall Daniel Earns AWPAA Weekly Honors

WEST POINT, N.Y. - Rookie Marshall Daniel of the golf team earned Army West Point Athletic Association Athlete of the Week honors following his performance this past weekend against Navy at Pine Valley.

The Black Knight's earned the star for the third year in a row after taking an early 3-1 lead after four-ball play on Saturday and then winning 6.5-4.5 following singles matches on Sunday.

Daniel was key to Army's victory. On Saturday, he teamed up with classmate Gary Bullard in four-ball play and won the match through only 11 holes on the course and won 8-and-7 over Navy. He continued that momentum into Sunday as he took on one of Navy's best players. With the match square going into the 17th hole, he was able to go up one and then hit the green in regulation on the 18th and two-putted to victory.
