American Halts Army’s Four Match Winning Streak

WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Army West Point volleyball team fell to conference opponent American in straight sets on Friday.
The Black Knights (15-7, 6-3) entered the night on a four match winning streak, but struggled to get their attack going in this one, hitting at a .138 percentage in the match. This was the difference in the match, as while American also struggled from the field with a .248 hitting percentage, Army recorded 21 attack errors to American's 11.
Monica Eckford was bright spot for the team, hitting .391 in the contest with 11 kills and three total blocks. Setter Hannah Presley recorded 23 assists.
Army now turns its attention to Saturday's contest against service academy rival Navy in Annapolis. The Cadets defeated the Mids earlier this season 3-2 in the Army-Navy Star Match at West Point. With today's results, Army enters the match with a half game lead over Navy for third place in the Patriot League standings.
