WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point sprint football team topped Caldwell, 38-6, Saturday afternoon at Shea Stadium.
The Black Knights (4-1, 2-0 CSFL North) forced seven turnovers, as the Cougars (2-3, 1-1 CSFL South) threw four interceptions and lost three fumbles.
On the offensive end of the ball, the senior captain Tom Williamson paced the way with a season-high nine receptions good for 112 yards and a touchdown.

ARMY HIGHLIGHTS AND GAME NOTES
- Head coach Mark West is now just a win shy of tying Bob Thompson (1986-97) for the second most wins in program history. The 11th year coach registered his 63rd career win.
- Ryan Leach registered two interceptions, marking the second time this season the junior has had multiple interceptions in a game.
- Leach also led the team with a total of eight tackles. Behind him was Alex Sobeski (7) and Vincenzo Battaglia (6), both of whom were also credited with forced fumbles.
- JC Watson was 9-for-18 passing for a total of 121 yards and two touchdowns.
- Matthew Sauter led the Army rushing attack with 70 yards on eight carries and a touchdown.
HOW IT HAPPENED
First Quarter
- The Black Knights opened the contest's scoring with a 29-yard connection between JC Watson and Kraig Hamilton on third and seven to put the Black Knights ahead 7-0 with 2:59 remaining in the first.
- In the opening minute of the second quarter, Seppi Ortman drilled a 22-yard field goal to give the Cadets the 10-0 advantage. The field goal was set up by a Desmond Young interception that occurred late in the first quarter.
- With 9:38 remaining in the opening half, David Dickerson blocked a Caldwell punt and teammate Onorino Tamburri scooped it up and brought the ball 23 yards to the house to give the 17-0 lead.
- Around the three-and-a-half-minute mark, Ryan Leach took an interception return 52 yards to the Caldwell 12 yardline. On the next play, Matthew Sauter rushed untouched into the end zone to put the Black Knights up 24-0.
- The Cougars would score on the ensuing drive capping off a five-play 75-yard drive with a 34-yard touchdown pass.
Third Quarter
- The Army defense showcased its strength in the third quarter causing a turnover and two turnovers on downs.
Fourth Quarter
- With 14:26 left in the fourth quarter, Kameron Miller punched it in from three yards out to put the Black Knights ahead 31-6.
- Williamson reeled in an 18-yard touchdown pass from JC Watson with 6:54 left in the contest, which put the Cadets ahead 38-6.
