Army Splits Season-Opening Twin Bill

WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army West Point women's tennis team opened its season by splitting a pair of matches on the road against 23rd-ranked Virginia and Georgetown on Saturday.
The Black Knights captured a 6-1 victory over the Hoyas and dropped a 4-0 decision to the Cavaliers to begin the 2019 campaign at 1-1.

- The Black Knights improved to 3-0 all-time versus the Hoyas in their first meeting since 2002.
- Kirby Einck won her 40th-career singles dual match.
- The Geneva, Ill., native notched her first victory in the No. 1 singles position since Feb. 3, 2017 against Binghamton.
- Gloria Son collected her 35th career singles victory.
- Waldman posted her 20th-career singles victory.
- The Acworth, Ga., native improved to 3-0 in duals for her career.
- Caroline Vincent and Sam DiMaio captured the win in her first collegiate dual at the No. 2 position.
- DiMaio earned her team-leading 11th victory of the season.
- MaryJo Pidgeon and Stephanie Dolehide made their collegiate dual debuts.
- Army faced Virginia for the third time in program history and first since 2011.
